  8. Should of pulled the metal roof off, and built a new roof. Looks like more work fixing that mess. Be nice if you could park it under a barn roof and rip the roof off. When they remodel them they strip them to the frame.

  9. you just have to know how to do that type of truss…

  10. Khai Bui says:

how much does it cost to get it repair like this

  11. Crade 25 says:

how much would it cost (estimate) to repair my roof? exactly like this video its bowed in.

  12. freeweed says:

shoulda just made a couple of stripper poles.

  13. Mike Roller says:

The repair job doesn't look much better than what you guys started with as there's still too much sag in the ceiling.

  14. USNVA says:

Why are all the boards laid sideways?? That way offers less structural support. No wonder why tornadoes love these POS's!!!

  15. The easyest way to repair a leaky rounded roof (Mobile home) is to cover-it with elastomere. A ight liquid tar coating is required as a bonding agent for the elastomere to stick to the roof. It comes in 12 Ft wide rolls and you lay-it down like a rug. Section sealing is done with a propane torch. This way you end-up with a perfect seamless roof. For the average mobile home, it is a 6 Hrs job with 2 men.. Do the job on a calm day (No wind) Precision installation is not critical since the trimming is done once the material is layed down. Once done, a special paint coating (White or black) is required, one coat by paint roller.  Elastomere has a 25 years guaranty by the manufacturer.

  16. On a single wide I had to make a beam from front center to back center. All the way down the center I jacked the beam up to very limit of what I thought the old roof could tolerate.

I mean I was stretching that sucker worse than a can of jiffy pop (only joking). But it was creaking. I would prop the beam up with boards held by wall frame.

The old wood was mostly good but warped due to long time of being bent under pressure. The roof was basically giving way. So if I would have matched the old support boards I would of had bows.

Also, I skipped trying to match the same level as the old support pieces you showed and just kept jacking the center of the roof hoping to get somewhat more of a center pitch.  My thinking was more pitch less rain colleting. Looking underneath it looked drastic change, but on top of the roof hardly noticeable. Oh well…

I built an extra support wall for the beam at living-room/kitchen and had two upright 2x4s showing that worked well for more cabinets. Another support board hidden in roof at the beginning of the hallway. I used existing walls to support that.

The beam was 2 offset 2x4s nailed together and was very strong. I built the beam to full length inside the ceiling space to try to build the beam as straight and strong as possible. Then I jacked up the center of the roof with the beam.

I used a good sized hydrolic jack and a level to avoid the problem you had. I had to use extensions to get the drywall support boards to be even.

The job came out ok, but later down the line I had heat issues because I was too cheap to buy fiberglass and there was also roof leaking issues.

Should have double roofed it and bought the fiberglass. The trailer was naturally hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Next time I buy the freaking fiberglass.

I even used a texture brush to popcorn the ceiling, It was not bad.

It was allot of work but I was proud of the job.
